Summary: Mae and Tory are 7-year-old twins. One day before school, Mae gets an odd type of burn. Not your usual, forgot-the-stovetop-was-hot burn, but a burn from acidic rain. No one else seemed to notice, which was really freaky. Mae and Tory have secret in-school meetings to discuss the bizarre burn with their older sister, Taelor. They don't take it as anything paranormal, or think it's a life-or-death warning from someone outlandish. When Taelor's part of a plan the super-smart Tory came up with fails, and she's stuck at school in detention while Mae and Tory still fulfill their part of the plan at their home, they trace the odd mark to a ghost of some sort, while finding out a stupefying secret about Mae; now that’s paranormal.
